Wheels and Tires

Creating a Custom Look With New Wheels

Aftermarket wheels are one of the easiest and most popular ways to customize the look of your Jeep, truck, SUV or car. You'll want to consider whether you want to stay with the same size wheel (both diameter and rim width) or if you want to size up. You'll need to take into account what works for your vehicle, so that you don't compromise the handling or safety. If you do size up on wheels and/or tires, you'll definitely want to to include a speedometer calibration at the same time, to ensure you maintain a safe speed.

The next step is to decide what overall look you want for your new wheels. Going for a totally blacked out look with a matte finish? Want to go for chrome, bronze or titanium? Pick a color that matches your exterior...several top brands offer standard color choices...or we can custom paint your wheels to match anything you choose! Enhance Your New Wheels With Upgraded Tires

When choosing a tire, you should consider a few things. The first is, what type of ride you want from them. Big, rugged mud terrain tires are great for mud and rock crawling, and they certainly create an aggressive look for your rig, but they can create a noisy and less than comfortable ride. An all-terrain tire, while providing a smooth and quiet ride, isn't the best option for serious off-road driving. So, how do you decide?

At Carolina Custom, we generally recommend a hybrid tire for anyone who is planning to do both paved and off-road driving. Hybrid tires provide the best of both worlds from mud-terrain and all-terrain tires. The "hybrid" term comes from the tread pattern being a blend of tread patterns that provide both a quiet and comfortable ride, as well as capable off-road performance.

If you're primarily taking your vehicle off-road, consider a mud terrain tire. They are designed to tackle terrain, with increased puncture resistance, lateral stability and enhanced forward traction, with tread that effectively removes mud and dirt from the tread.

Plan to do most of your driving on the road, with minimal off-road use? An all-terrain tire is going to be the best option for you. They will provide the smoothest and quietest ride, with the versatility to handle any weather conditions. There are several all-terrain tires that will still give you a rugged look for your vehicle, or opt for a sleek low-profile look with larger rims.
